Disclaimer

Last updated: April 2026

ImportPilot is an informational tool designed to help small importers research HTS classifications, monitor tariff changes, and estimate landed cost. Please read the disclaimers below carefully before relying on any output from the Service.

Not a Substitute for Professional Advice

This tool is not a substitute for advice from a licensed customs broker or trade attorney. Customs compliance involves legal, financial, and operational risk that depends on the full facts of your shipment, your compliance history, and the current interpretation of U.S. import law. For entry-ready decisions, engage a licensed customs broker or attorney.

AI Classification Suggestions

AI-generated HTS classifications are suggestions only. Always verify with CBP or a licensed broker before filing. ImportPilot's AI classifier uses large language models to propose the most likely HTS codes based on the product description, materials, and use you provide. It does not see your actual product and cannot resolve ambiguities that require physical inspection, lab testing, or chapter-note interpretation. A Binding Ruling from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the authoritative way to confirm a classification.

Duty Rates Change Frequently

Duty rates change frequently. Always verify current rates at hts.usitc.gov before making business decisions. MFN rates, Section 301 actions, Section 232 measures, antidumping and countervailing duties, and free trade agreement eligibility can shift with executive orders, Federal Register notices, and court rulings. We refresh our data periodically, but the Service may not reflect the latest changes at any given moment.

Landed Cost Estimates

Landed cost calculations are estimates only and may differ from actual import costs. Actual costs depend on the exact commercial invoice value, CBP's valuation determinations, freight and insurance charges agreed with your forwarder, Merchandise Processing Fee and Harbor Maintenance Fee as assessed on the specific entry, broker fees, demurrage and detention, customs exam fees if your container is flagged, and any trade remedies that apply on the date of entry. Treat ImportPilot estimates as planning figures, not entry-ready numbers.

No Warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that classifications, rates, calculations, or alerts are accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk.

No Attorney-Client or Broker-Client Relationship

Use of ImportPilot does not create an attorney-client, customs broker-client, or any other professional relationship between you and ImportPilot, its employees, or its contractors. Communications through the Service are not privileged.
